Welcome to a new issue of Jupiter Index. For nine years, we have written about a range of music from the blues and classical to electronic, R&B and punk. Our many writers have covered music from Houston to New York City and have interviewed such music legends as Rosanne Cash, B. B. King, Janis Ian, and classical violist Joshua Bell, to Brian Wilson. We have also covered artists who are musically different such as Butch Trucks, DJ Logic, Dayna Kurtz, Robyn Hitchcock, John Doe, Rosie Flores, Rob Wasserman, Steve Vai and Kasey Chambers. And in this edition we feature interviews with violist Hilary Hahn, Ian McLagan from the Faces and the Bump Street Band, and new country artist Jason Eady.
As a non-profit organization based in Austin, Texas, our goal has been to not only offer help to a new crop of writers, but a place on the World Wide Web where music lovers could go to experience a fresh take on music, something uncommon, and genuine.
This magazine’s goal is to share knowledge about musicians and to provide a site where people can learn more about music, discover new things about the artists they enjoy and have fun reading the many diverse interviews, CD reviews, concert and our noteworthy Web site reviews.
The name of the magazine comes from Mozart's "Jupiter" Symphony. That work is both complex and distinctive. We strive to share the same fullness and intensity good music has to offer. The word "index" refers to taking the pulse of something important. We at Jupiter Index love music and strive to convey this love though the magazine.
Each edition of Jupiter Index has provided people of diverse backgrounds an opportunity to interview new and established artists. We are also committed to helping people with their writing skills and sharing their thoughtful writing with our readers. Read what our writers have to share in our many sections, which include among others the "Interview," "Emerging Music" and our "Music Makers Feature" sections.
And, if you enjoy this publication as much as we enjoy putting it together, please tell your friends about us. We thank you for reading Jupiter Index Web magazine.
